Vanishing Man Boobs

The presence of man boobs can be caused by a great many things. The scientific name is gynaecomastia. This translates to the “development of abnormally large mammary glands in males resulting in breast enlargement.” The breasts can sometimes actually discharge milk. The cause of this problem is not really known for sure. There are theories that the cause may be due to the imbalance of sex hormones. Another theory is the cause may be the increase in the size of cells in this area. Fat tissue in the chest area is still another reason. Turcios Disease, another name for man boobs can occur in newborns, at puberty in males and when they get older. There seems to be no clear cut reason that this happens.

Some potential illogical reasons may be due to medications which contain hormones, the decrease of testosterone production, longterm kidney or liver disease and eating after being on the brink of starvation. Much of the reasoning for this occurrence is speculation although medications can cause approximately 10 to 20% of the cases of man boobs in adult males after adolescence.

Male breasts are also the product of some drugs. Anabolic steroids are one. These are a class of steroids that are used for stimulating the appetite and bone growth, initiate male puberty and for the treatment of certain diseases such as AIDS and cancer.

Body building steroids are used for building muscles and promoting growth. They are manufactured synthetically to try and mimic the ones that your body produces naturally. The reasons for using these steroids vary but it is mainly for looking good and having enhanced performance in certain sports.

However, there is a down side to using steroids and it is best to know the effects these products can have. Among them are a lowered sperm count and possible sterility. There have also been reports of increased aggression, liver, kidney and heat problems, growing breasts and withdrawal.
